2004: (see photo); In 2004 his thriller MEDESCHULDING (Accessory) and his anthology SPANNENDE
VERHALEN (thrilling stories) are both nominated for the shortlist of THE DIAMOND BULLET, the award for the best thriller originally written in Dutch and published in Holland or Belgium during the past year.
This prestigious award was granted to Bob Mendes on October 14th 2004 for his thriller MEDESCHULDIG (Accessory).
The trophy is a silver knuckle-duster decorated with four valuable diamonds, a pièce unique, designed by the artist Wim Delvoye (worldwide famous for his Cloaca) and is created and sponsored by Rex totally Diamond Antwerp/New York. The trophy has a value of 37.000,00 euro (appr: 42.000,00$)

2000: 2000 His novelle Stukken van mensen (English: Parts of People – See Chech: Kusi lidi) is selected by Reader’s Digest as giftbook ”(120.000 copies)to their members at the occasion of the publication of the 200th volume in their collection “Famous Books”.
1999: End of 1999: Bob Mendes was honoured with the Cultural Award of the Commune of Schoten for his novel: A Taste of Freedom.
1999: October 1999 Bob Mendes was invited as honorary guest at the International Forum of the Frankfürter Büchmesse to represent Belgian (Dutchspeaking Literature)
1997: In 1997 Bob Mendes was awarded for the second time with the prestigious Golden Noose, this time for his thriller De kracht van het vuur (The Power of Fire) published by Manteau/Antwerp in September 1996.
The Dutch jury described The power of Fire as a fastreading masterpiece of international value with a lot of history, politics, very exciting and untill the last page of a striking quality.
1995: In 1995 Bob Mendes was invited by the Library of Congress in Washington DC, to read for the prestigious American literary program "World Literature on Tape," being the third Dutchspeaking writer (after Hugo Claus and Cees Noteboom) to recieve such a honourable invitation.
1993:

In 1993 Bob Mendes was awarded De Gouden Strop (The Golden Noose), an important Dutch literary award for the best thriller of the year, with Vergelding. This award winning book was translated into English and published as Vengeance in the United States of America.
His thriller LINK was sold to Droemer Verlag in Munich and published in February 1997 as Cybermafia.
Four of his thrillers The Chunnel Syndrome, De fraudejagers (The Fraud Hunters), Link and De kracht van het vuur (The Power of Fire) have also been published by Reader's Digest in their collection "Famous Books".
